If you are interested in whitening your teeth, there are several methods that can be used to get the desired results. Some of these methods can be done in the comfort of your own home with some household items or things that can be easily obtained from a local store. Here are some of the ways that can be used to whiten your teeth.

Strawberries

Believe it or not, strawberries have whitening properties. The first thing you would think is that a strawberry would turn your teeth red. This may be true when you are applying them, but the malic acid that is contained within the fruit is the substance that will help whiten. Mash up a strawberry into a pulp and dab it onto your teeth. You will need to leave your mouth open somewhat so that it does not get washed away by your saliva.

Banana Peel

Strawberries are not the only fruit that can whiten teeth. Rub the inside of a banana peel over your teeth to aid in whitening. Potassium, manganese, and magnesium are all minerals that are contained inside a banana peel, making your teeth white and bright with regular applications. Using an orange peel will give the same results.

Baking Soda

You can make a paste to brush on your teeth out of baking soda and water. Use a quarter cup of baking soda and a teaspoon of water and mix until a paste-like consistency. Use a toothbrush to apply. Leave it on your teeth no longer than one minute as the properties can wear away enamel if left on too long. If your teeth are not sensitive, you can add a dash of lemon juice for flavor and to help remove tartar. The baking soda will remove staining on the tooth's surface.

Peroxide

You can use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash to help remove stains from your teeth. If you do not want to have the flavor of peroxide in your mouth in large quantities, put a dash of peroxide on your toothpaste when brushing.

Whitening Products

There are several products that you can buy over-the-counter in your local drugstore. You can try using a whitening toothpaste when you go about your normal brushing routine. These claim to work extra-hard in removing stains when used regularly. Whitening strips and gel trays are also used to whiten teeth. Make sure to follow the package instructions carefully so that you do not damage the enamel on your teeth from overuse.
